10-08-2011: From Espot to Boí (by Silvia and Josepma)
We leave Espot
At 7:30 (more than less) we left Espot with the aim of crossing the Aigües Tortes National Park and arriving to the Boí Valley. A great endeavor for the intrepid Magis group. Of course, it would have been easier to get into the Boí Valley by its natural geographic entrance, but then we would have lost all the natural and spiritual beauties of the day....
Not bad to start with..... Who said it would be easy?
We get to Estany de Sant Maurici
Two hour and a half later (more than less) we covered the first stage: we reached the Sant Maurici lake and had a mass there
The most difficult part came after the mass: you could smell in the atmosphere a resilience to continue walking: first, the breakfast, then the wc and its neverending queue... When, in the end we went on our route, it was almost 13:00. The sun was shining relentlessly and the most demanding part of the traversal was only starting...
Arrival at El Portarró d'Espot
Our tongues were out and dry when we reached the 2425 m. high Portarró d'Espot, and everybody would have change those magnificient views by a glass of cold water.... Anyway: we had made it!!!! From there on, all was downhill!!!!
Down to Estany Llong and Planell d'Aigües Tortes....
Mossèn Jordi put an end to our pain with his marvelous accommodation in his home at Boí: A shower, a real mattress and some hot food should get us ready for starting tomorrow the exploration of the romanesque churches.
